Article by Ed Collet who is an engineer by trade, a firefighter, and an Instructor for pump operations and re-supply with the Bowling Green State University Fire School.

 

Centrifugal fire pumps are the mainstay of the fire service whether in a large industrial fire engine capable of moving multiple thousands of gallons of water or a portable pump with a flow of 150 gpm. While very efficient at moving water, all air must be evacuated from the pump cavity to pull water in to the eye of the impeller.

WHAT DO YOU DO ? 

In the fire marketplace I am responsible for marketing, strategic planning, distribution interface across North America as well as sales management for the Midwest region. Additionally, I am responsible for developing markets in industries that use our products outside of the firefighting industry.


HOW DOES WHAT YOU DO AFFECT THE CUSTOMER ? 
I help to be a conduit of information to, and from, our end user customer so CET can be as responsive to their needs as possible. Additionally help find customers where our products can help address a need or solve a problem they have moving water from one place to another- be it fighting fire, dust mitigation, watering crops, washing down industrial equipment or dozens of other applications.

ANY HOBBIES, OR OUTSIDE INTERESTS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH CET CUSTOMERS? .
I enjoy travel to experience new landscapes and cultures. I also enjoy playing chess competitively. For outdoor and family activities I enjoy playing the Italian inspired game of bocce with a fine cabernet.
