WHY DO YOU NEED FOAM?

Foam is needed for any fire or spill involving flammable or combustible solids or liquids

Water will not float on hydrocarbon products such as gasoline or diesel fuel.

Water used on a fire in a contained area may sink, runoff or overflow.

Foam reduces toxic and flammable vapors given off by fuels.

TRAILER UNIT

Unit is to be installed on a double axle trailer.
- Heavy Duty Steel trailer w/steel floor ;`
- Trailer to be Painted Fire Red ;
- Plate form trailer dimension to be 13’ long x 6’ between the two fenders ;
- Rear tandem axles : 14,000 lb ;
- Torsions Axles ;
- 235 / 85R16LT Load Range E tires ;
- Rear electric brake ;
- 7 Pins trailer plug ;
- Sealed DOT lights ;
- 2-5/16” ball attachment assembly ;
- Front jack w/7,000# capacity ;
- Two (2) rear downrigger stabilizer ;
- Four (4) 16 in all seasons tires ;
- One (1) Spare tire w/rim installed on the trailer ;
- Two (2) Steps, one each side, located on the front of each fender ;
- E-Z lube hub assemblies ;
There shall be Real Wheel simulators on all four tires.

STRIPPING & LETTERING

Side, Front and Rear DOT stripping shall be applied on each side of the trailer. DOT stripping will be red and white reflective stripes.

Two (2) smooth aluminum plates shall be installed, one (1) each side of the dunage compartment in matter to applied desired Fire Department Lettering. Lettering supplied and installed by CET.

There shall be a 4” Scotchlite stripe along both the drivers and passengers side of the trailer to meet NFPA..

SIDE COMPARTMENTS CONFIGURATION

All compartments will be made with ½” polypropylene sheet.

All compartments shall have a canvas snap cover to secure items for transportation and weather

DRIVERS SIDE COMPARTMENT

There shall be a driver’s side compartment made of ½” polypropylene sheet, dimensions are 60” Long X 18” High X 10” Wide.

The compartment shall be installed over the driver’s side wheel well and secured properly to the top of the wheel well.

The compartment shall hold a minimum of 500’ X 1 ¾” Hose

All compartments floors will be covered with Turtle Tiles. The tiles shall be black.

PASSENGER SIDE COMPARTMENT

There shall be a passenger’s side compartment made of ½” polypropylene sheet, dimensions are 60” Long X 18” High X 10” Wide.

The compartment shall be installed over the passenger’s side wheel well and secured properly to the top of the wheel well.

All compartments floors will be covered with Turtle Tiles. The tiles shall be black.

REAR COMPARTMENTS CONFIGURATION

Rear compartment to enclose the Transfer Pump assembly.

The compartments shall have a minimum of one (1) louvered panel bolted into a wall to provide the proper airflow inside the compartment.

The compartment shall be of sweep-out type with no lip at bottom edge for easy cleaning.
Compartment door shall be equipped with ROM brand roll-up door complete with the following features: aluminum double wall slats with continuous ball & socket hinge joint and recessed slat seal, double wall reinforced bottom panel with stainless steel lift bar latching system, reusable slat shoes with positive snap-in securement, one-piece aluminum door track / side frame, top gutter with non-marring seal, non-marring side seals, bottom seal, with all wear component material to be Type 6 Nylon. Roll-up doors to be anodized gray.

Compartment door shall open up and over the Transfer pump.

REAR CHEVRON

On the back of the trailer roll up door shall include an NFPA approved rear chevron.

TOP LDH HOSE COMPARTMENT

One (1) hose storage tray shall be supplied on top of the water tank area. Dimension to be approximately 35” long x 68” wide x 12” high. Hose storage tray to be made with ½” polypropylene sheet. The LDH hose storage tray shall be welded to the top of the foam tank.

FOAM TANK(S)

Each foam tank shall be constructed of 1/2" thick polypropylene sheet stock with PolymarCo-PP™ resin. Each Foam tank shall be welded with Heavy Duty extruded joint. The material shall be of a certified, high quality, non-corrosive, stress relieved thermo plastic, black in colour with a textured finish, and UV stabilized for maximum protection. The unit shall incorporate transverse partitions manufactured for 3/8" PT2E polypropylene which shall interlock with a series of longitudinal partitions constructed of 3/8" PT2E polypropylene. All swash partitions shall be so designed to allow for maximum water/foam and air flow between compartments and are fully welded to each other as well as to the inside of the tank.

There shall be a standard 3” in width, 70% transparent sight gauge on both the class A and B foam tanks. There shall be a gauge on the front and rear of both tanks

FILL TOWER AND TANK COVER

Each tank shall be equipped with one (1) fill tower with a combination vent/overflow and manual fill tower. The fill towers shall be 24" x 13" x 7" high rectangular drop-on type cover for the foam B and 12” x 12” x 7” high suare drop-in type cover for the foam A. The cover shall be fastened to the tower with a teather to prevent loss. The tower shall be located in the passenger rear corner of the tank. There shall be a vent / overflow installed inside and to the extreme rear of the tower approximately 2" down from the top. The vent / overflow shall be of a standard schedule 40 polypropylene pipe with minimum ID of 3". The vent / overflow shall be piped internally toward the front and exit out the front tank wall with a 1/2" extension past the front tank wall. The tank cover shall be constructed of 1/2" thick PT2E polypropylene, black in color, UV stabilized.

Tank will be baffles in accordance with NFPA bulletin 1901 requirements, latest version.

Each fill tower shall be labeled respectively for each foam A and B.

Each tank shall not be painted and be black in color.

TANK CAPACITY

There shall be two (2) foam tanks on the trailer.

One tank shall have a capacity of 500 U.S. gallons of Class “B” foam. The tank shall be covered by the ALL OUT No Fault Life Time Warranty.

The second tank shall have a capacity of 250 U.S. gallons of Class “A” foam. The tank shall be covered by the ALL OUT No Fault Life Time Warranty.

Foam concentrate tank fill opening shall be properly labeled on each tank.

SUMP

The floor of the tank shall be manufactured from 3/4" PT2E polypropylene. There shall be one (1) sump on the Class “A” and “B” tank. The sump shall be integral to the tank floor and be a minimum of 3/8" deep recessed into the floor. The sump shall not be visible from or protrude through the bottom of the tank. There shall be a drain sump underneath each tank.

TANK OUTLETS

There shall be two tank outlets on each tank located in the same horizontal plane at the rear wall of the tank. One outlet shall come with 2-1/2" female NPT tank to pump suction fitting and one outlet Both shall come with 1-1/2" female NPT tank fill fitting with flow deflector.

1" TANK DRAIN(S)

A 1-1/2” NH-F valved drain shall be plumbed off each sump. A cap and chain shall be provided. Each outlet shall terminate behind wheels.

TANK MOUNTING BLOCKS

The cover shall incorporate two (2) booster reel mounting blocks that shall be to accommodate two (2) each sliding nut fasteners. These 4" large mounting blocks shall be welded to the covers running from the rear edge of the tank forward.

MOUNTING

The foam tank shall not be welded or otherwise permanently secured to other components, except the Top LDH Hose Compartment.

TRANSFER PUMP, PFP-6.5HPHND-ROTARY GEAR GORMAN RUPP PUMP

The pump shall be a CET PFP-6.5hpHND rotary gear Gorman pump.
Size: 2" x 2" (51 mm x 51 mm) NPT - Female. Casing: Aluminum
Open Type, Two Vane Impeller: Ductile Iron Replaceable Wear Plate: Carbon Steel. Intermediate Bracket: Gray iron.
Seal: Type 31 Mechanical Self Lubricated, Silicon Carbide Rotating and Stationary Faces. Fluoro¬carbon Elastomers (DuPont Vitone or Equiva¬lent). Stainless Steel No. 18-8 Cage and Spring. Flap Valve: Buna-N w/Nylon Reinforcement;
Flange: Aluminum.

TRANSFER PUMP ENGINE

A 1-1/2” NH-F valved drain shall be plumbed off each sump. A cap and chain shall be provided. Each outlet shall terminate behind wheels.

TANK MOUNTING BLOCKS

The pump shall be driven by a single cylinder, gasoline engine powered, 6.5 horsepower at 3600 rpm. The engine shall be air cooled, 12 volt electric start and recoil rope starter as a back up system. The engine shall be fuelled from a integrated gas tank. The engine shall have is own battery. The battery shall be have a weatherproof box with battery conditioner and shoreline plug receptacle.

TRANSFER PUMP CONTROLS

A control panel shall be the standard Honda control panel supplied and installed on the pump.

TRANSFER PUMP INLET PIPING

All piping shall be stainless steel piping, painted red. The inlet piping shall consist of a 2-1/2" manifold tube to the class “A” and “B” foam tank discharge with victaulic connection to minimize flex and vibration between the manifold inlet and discharges lines. Between the tank and the pump there shall be two (2) 2.0" Fire Type, quarter turn swing out valve with a handle. One (1) will be for the “B” tank, the other shall be for the “A” tank. Each valves shall remain open to pump from the tank.

The overboard suction connections shall have a 2.5" , quarter turn swing out valve with a handle and 2.5” by two (2) 1.5” Male NST adaptor with cap and chain. To draft, the tank to pump valve shall be closed, a suction hose connected to the overboard suction connection and placed in a static foam supply.

TRANSFER PUMP DISCHARGE PIPING

Piping shall be stainless steel piping or high pressure flexible hose. Discharge shall be piped directly to the Foam Tank. Piping shall be painted red to match the pump.

There shall be a 1.5" valve piped from the pump discharge to the tank fill on both the “A” and the “B” tanks. The valves shall be an Fire Type, quarter turn swing out valve with a handle and 1.5" NPT threads, and shall be connected to the tank by 1.5" high pressure flexible hose.

These discharges shall be designed to refill each tank in the most efficient manner.

There shall be a 1.5” valve piped from the pump discharge as a service line.

PORTABLE GENERATOR & SCENE LIGHTS

There shall be a Honda EU3000i light weight super quiet generator supplied and installed at the rear driver side of the trailer. The generator shall have a maximum output of 3000 watts.

Four (4) 500 Watts telescoping 120v Scene Lights mounted at rear of the trailer. The light shall be single head design. Lights will increase visibility around the apparatus during night or light operations. Lights to be High Intensity Discharge (HID). Unlike the halogen incandescent bulbs, the HID bulb does not contain a filament. Instead, it creates light from an electrical discharge between two electrodes. This technology provides a brighter and crisper white light that is superior to halogen source because it most resembles natural daylight and is very efficient. Model is to be Fire Research Optimum lamp heads with side mount, push up telescopic pole, #OPA512-S50. A switchbox is provided underneath each lamp head. Scene lights shall be wired to the generator.

ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS

The wiring is secured in place, readily accessible and protected against heat, water and physical damage.

Electrical harness lines shall be mechanically attached to the frame or body structure of the trailer.

All wiring will be run in heat and moisture resistant plastic convoluted split loom.

Electrical harness lines shall be furnished with protective looms, grommets, or other devices at each point where they pass through body panels or structural members or wherever they lie against a sharp metal edge. A through-the-frame connector shall be permitted to be used in place of metal protective looms or grommets.

Switches, relays, terminals, and connectors shall have a direct current (dc) rating of 125 percent of maximum current for which the circuit is protected.

Conductor insulation will conform to S.A.E. requirements. All circuit are protected by automatic reset circuit breakers.

All wiring furnished will conform to the national Electric Code.

All circuits will be wired in conformance with S.A.E. J1292, Automobile wiring standard.

All wiring will be function worded schematically.

A set (2) of electric diagram will be remit upon delivery.

FOAM INLET PIPING: MASTER DISCHARGE(S)

All piping shall be stainless steel piping, painted red. The inlet piping shall consist of a 5" manifold tube to discharges lines with victaulic connection to minimize flex and vibration between the manifold inlet and discharges lines.

The inlet overboard shall have two (2) 5” storz connections with cap and chain on each side of the water manifold.

One (1) pressure gauge shall be tapped into the 5” manifold tube and shall be easily readable from ground.

FOAM DISCHARGE PIPING

All piping shall be stainless steel piping or high pressure flexible hose. All discharge shall be piped directly to the 5” inlet manifold.

All piping shall be painted red to match the pump.

All the discharge valves shall be Fire Grade, quarter turn swing out valve with a chromed handle for ease of operation and maintenance.

One (1) in-line foam eductor shall be installed after all discharge valve and plumbed to the foam tank(s) with pvc hose and equipped with a shutoff valve mounted directly to the foam tank. 2-1/2” to 5” lines shall utilized Akron Advance Eductor model 2305. 1.5” lines shall utilize Akron Model 3095 eductors.

FRONT PRE-CONNECT CROSS LAYS

Two pre-connect cross lays made from polypropylene sheet shall be supplied and installed on top of front Foam tank.

Dimension of each cross lay to be full length of the foam tank x 8” inside width x 12” high.

Each area shall be designed to prevent the accumulation of water and allow for ventilation to aid in drying hose in the storage area.

Black Turtle Tiles to be installed and bolted on the floor.

Cross lays shall have a snap canvas cover and side net.

There shall be a 1.5" full flow valve piped from the 5" suction manifold to each cross lay. Each valve shall be an Fire Grade, quarter turn swing out valve with a chromed handle and be connected to each cross lay by high pressure flexible plumbing.

There shall be two (2) foam eductors for the pre-connect tray. Each cross lay shall have an Akron Model #3095 foam educator allow both Class “A” and “B” Foam to be discharged.

Akron Municipal Eductors feature a large, easy to read, and removable metering dial with infinite settings between 0% and 6%.

Detents at 1⁄4, 1⁄2, 1, 3 and 6%. The Eductors are rated to flow at 200 psi (14 bar) inlet pressure and work well with nozzles rated at 75 and 100 psi (5 and 7 bar).

Each cross lay shall have a 1-1/2” NH Pre-Connect elbow.

Each cross lay shall be color coded determined by the fire department.

5” STORZ CONNECTION

The discharge manifold shall include an independent 5” Storz connection gated with a 2.5” Akron Fire Grade Valve. The 5” Storz discharge shall include a 500 GPM Akron Advantage Model #2305 foam educator. The connection shall be color coded determined by the fire department. The connection shall include a cap and chain.

1.5” DISCHARGE CONNECTION

There shall be a 1.5” independently gated discharge off the 5” manifold. This discharge shall have a Akron Model #3095 foam educator. The foam educator shall flow both Class A and B foam at adjustable percentages between 0% and 6% with detents at ¼, ½, 1, 3, 6%. The discharge shall have a 1.5” Fire Grade discharge valve with handle. The connection shall include a cap and chain. The discharge shall be color coded determined by the fire department.

TRAILER MOUNTED MONITOR

Two (2) Akron Aries monitor shall be supplied and installed centered at the rear of the water tank at the walk away area of the truck.

A handwheel controlled vertical travel monitor shall be installed with a full 3” waterway. Plumbing shall be 3” stainless steel.

Included in the monitor package shall be :
Each Monitor shall include one (1) self-educting master stream nozzles designed for educting foam at flow rates up to 1000 gpm.

Model to be #4475 Pyrolite Akrofoam Akron Nozzle with spring loaded baffle that allow flow setting selection of 350, 500, 750, or 1000 gpm.

Each Monitor shall be equipped to flow both Class “A” and “B” Foam.

Each Monitor plumbing and valves shall be color coded determined by the fire department.

WARNING LIGHTS

There shall be four (4) Whelen super LED M4 series emergency lights installed on the trailer. Two (2) shall be located on the rear bumper of the trailer red in color and two (2) shall be located on each fender. One (1) on the driver side and one on the passenger side fender. The lights shall be wired to the battery of the pump with a control switch located on the pump control panel labeled “Warning Lights”. There shall be a battery charger installed and wired to the battery of the pump. This charger shall charge the battery from the auxiliary port on the 7 way wiring plug when connected to the vehicle trailer lighting system.
